Wayne Pycior
A Missouri native and combat veteran, Wayne Pycior has spent much of his life creating. His artistic path began as a young man, driven by a natural ability and an instinctive connection to creating. He began his professional career at Hallmark in Kansas City, after realizing that commercial art was not the right fit he began an independent journey to understand his own expression in the world of creatives.
Today, his work spans jewelry, stained glass, sculpture, stone carving, and Native American-inspired printmaking.
He works independently from his studio in Springfield, Missouri

Wayne approaches stone carving without a predetermined plan. Each piece begins as a blank slate, and rather than forcing a particular form, he allows the character of the stone to guide the work.
There is an intuitive connection between artist and material — a process of discovering what already exists within the stone and allowing the final shape to emerge naturally.
His finished pieces range from realistic forms to fully abstract sculpture, but each begins with the same openness to possibility.
For Wayne, the motivation is simple: the creative process itself and the satisfaction of making something beautiful.
While sculpture allows Wayne to create a form from the material itself, his Native American prints approach storytelling differently.
The prints are about capturing a moment — preserving an expression, scene, or feeling — while his sculptural work is more about creating a moment through form, texture, and dimension.
That distinction reflects the breadth of Wayne’s work and the different ways he explores life, spiritual connection, and beauty through each medium.
Stone is an important part of Wayne’s practice, but finding the right material can be difficult. He sources and collects stone from locations throughout the country, allowing the available material to become part of the creative journey.
For his jewelry, many of the gemstones he works with are sourced from Missouri, connecting the finished pieces back to the landscape he calls home.
